Pastor Sharome L. Gentry, an anointed visionary, teacher, and preacher is the Founder and Senior Pastor of New Birth Spartanburg, "A City of Refuge". The life-changing words of God spoken by him are leading many souls to Christ through great teachings, writings, production, video, and audio. Because of this, New Birth has multiplied exceedingly and is one of the fastest growing ministries in the upstate area of South Carolina. To accommodate this unprecedented growth and the need for diversity, another service has been added on Sunday morning, in addition to other weekly services and ministries.
Pastor Gentry accepted Jesus into his life at the early age of twelve, and as a senior in high school, he answered the call of the Gospel Ministry. On May 27, 1990 at the New Ebenezer Baptist Church, he was licensed to preach by the late Reverend Earl Cheeks. In addition to his Pastorate, he is the co-founder of the Ernest Rice Foundation in Spartanburg and president and founder of the Sharome L. Gentry Ministries, Inc.- a legally, constituted, not-for-profit organization that exists to establish and maintain an evangelistic association; to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to promote community efforts and other related projects for the purpose of proclaiming Christian values. He is also a son of the Father's House Ministry under the leadership of his Spiritual father, Bishop Eddie L. Long.
Pastor Gentry is a native of Spartanburg, SC where he was reared in Spartanburg county public schools. Upon graduating, he furthered his education pursuing a degree in Religious Studies at Spartanburg Methodist College and North Greenville College. He was nominated as one of the "Outstanding Young Men of America." He is the husband of Veronica A. Gentry whereto this union are three children; Brandon, Desmond, and Ne'Miah Praise. He is the first of two sons born to Mr. Thomas & Christina Gentry of Spartanburg, South Carolina.
The vision of New Birth Spartanburg is to build a Kingdom city of refuge that will minister to the whole man spiritually, physically, economically, emotionally, and mentally; to build ministries that will heal the broken-hearted and empower the body of Christ, give sight to those who are spiritually blind, and to raise those who are dead or bound by their past actions and behaviors. In other words, to ensure Christ is working in you, through you, and around you. God has used Pastor Gentry in such an awesome, sometimes unexplainable way, but as God is at work in his life, the favor is evident, also.
